Mission Statement

The Electoral Council of Australia (ECA) is a consultative council of Electoral Commissioners from the electoral authorities of the Commonwealth, States and Territories of Australia. The ECA considers issues about the development and maintenance of the electoral roll for Commonwealth State, Territory and Local Government elections and matters of electoral administration, which have implication for Australian electoral authorities.

The mission of the Electoral Council of Australia is twofold:

First, through consultation to facilitate the management of the electoral rolls prepared for Federal, State, Territory and, where appropriate, Local Government elections, so as to:

• Maximise their accuracy and ensure their integrity; and
• Ensure that efficient and effective roll methodologies are implemented

Second, to consult on matters which will facilitate or improve Australian electoral administration.
